"The Morgantown Chamber of Commerce which presents you with this brochure, first functioned in September, 1784, when its members met with George Washington, at Pierpont's Farm, to discuss with him and plan for the development of Morgantown, the Monongahela Valley and Western Virginia. With those same objectives the organization is still functioning in 1938."
